if you reformat your hard drive you will clear all your files (every thing will go) so make sure you backup all your stuff first then do a reinstall.

something to think about, instead of installing Vista, i would go for XP Pro with SP2 which will work so much better then Vista and also your system will run faster. hope this all helps you.
