My teacher couldn't answer this question. Are there Any organisms with only RNA? Are viruses or

i really don't know if viruses are considered organisms...living things...???????



My teacher couldn't answer this question. Are there Any organisms with only RNA? Are viruses organisms?virus scanner



viruses are considered non-living because they do not meet all the criteria of the generally accepted definition of life.



also, viruses are not typically considered to be organisms because they are not capable of independent reproduction or metabolism. this controversy is problematic, though, since some parasites and endosymbionts are incapable of independent life either.



however, according to the united states code, viruses are considered to be microorganisms in the sense of biological weaponry and malicious use.



so, in essence...



if you follow the united states code that considers viruses as microorganisms, then the viruses which has rna as their genetic material are the only organisms with rna genome.

some viruses do contain RNA as their genetic material, no known organisms do this, and viruses are not generally considered alive, so they are not considered organisms - they are usually called infectious agents.
ok...as far as i think organisms doesn't necessarily refer to living things. its a substitue for the word 'substance' in bio. then its further divided as non living organisms n livng organisms.
