Kaspersky is all you need.........get rid of everything else. when you have more than one version on your computer they conflict with each other and you end up with lots of problems. Rule of thumb....never have more than one on your computer. One good one and my advice..........make that Kaspersky

Avast is the best ive had.
It is struggle going on since Creation(of computers). The satanic brains of the infectors find out new and better(in the sense of efficiency) as the Anti viruses tackle one epidemic. This day and night struggle is bound to go on but the hope is in the equally better ways developed by Antiviruses.Always keep faith in the final triumph of the Good.
you should only have one antivirus running and one firewall at any one time

if you have more than one they can conflict with each other and maybe worse than not having one at all
Most antivirus programs are incompatible. The reason for this is Anti-Virus actually acts like a virus in order to find viruses. When you have more than one installed, they tend to think the other is a virus.
No don't do it. Lots of anti-virus programs will detect each other as causing virus like activity and will stop each other working. AVG is an excellent program and as long as you update it every day it will do a very good job of protecting you.
Recently I was hacked of my Yahoo account and my Neopets account but luckily enough had no bad viruses stuff up my computer but my friends were also getting systematically hacked and their computers were shutting down on them and were full of viruses, now the only difference between all of us was I use Norton and they used other anti viruses! Now I keep getting told that Norton are the biggest virus makers out there, so in my opinion they are probably the best for protection as well!
You wont solve all the issues with one solution. But also you don't need to pay to stay safe. Avast is free and the best I have used Avg will bog down and slow your machine nortons is the same. you can get it here: http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.ht... For spywear I use spybot search and distroy and also Ad-aware and as a last case resort I use hijackthis to remove bad registry entry's. Be careful doing this and leave it alone if your unsure though. The other thing you should consider for future protection is some type of external backup and also look at making an image so next time if all goes to hell you can rebuild your system from the image in about 30 minutes time and then copy the backed up data to the clean drive.
Hacker, used in different situations, means one of the following:
