What are all the minimum FREE softwares, that should be loaded in a home pc to control viruses?

I am not well versed with internet and all, but now only newly connected to it. And my sincere question is what are the softwares to be there in my home pc to protect



various types of viruses,



spams, ad wares,



spy ware,



poping ups ( i am recently only knowing these words and i am not knowing any full meaning for those thnigs too) etc..



Please give the details FROM YOUR EXPERIENCE AND NOT FROM WEB SEARCH, and please give some reliable web addresses to download those things...

For starters, it's probably best to have:



Anti-Virus



Anti-Spyware



Anti-Adware



Firewall



Pop-up Blocker



There are many free tools which allow the user to defend themself. Some of these come in combinations so they will not conflict with one and other, although, I've never had a problem with this. Personally, free software is just as great as software which must be licenced.



Anti-Virus - A tools which scans your system and registry for malicious programs which can be classified as trojans, worms, or keyloggers. Up-to-date tools will assist in the removal of these.



Anti-Spyware - A tool which protects and cleans your computer from harmful spyware which can send personal data and information to anywhere on the Net.
