Does a virus SCAN actually get rid of viruses or does it just tell you that there are viruses?anti virus protection
It depends on how your anti-virus software is set up - a good anti-virus program, properly set up should delete/quarantine/clean the viruses that it is effective against.
However it also depends on the virus, some are pretty difficult to remove once identified, and may require special manual removal steps on your part. In those cases you need to do some internet research to find out the steps to take - which vary depending on the virus, operating system, etc.
is the antivirus is a free edition,it will scan n help u get rid of it.
A scan does just that, it scans for viruses.
When it's done scanning, and it finds any viruses, it should ask you what to do next, quarantine, fix, or delete them.
Scan -- to look at carefully, scrutinise, measure, read.......get the idea ?
it depends on how you setup your antivirus. if you setup your antivirus to just show you the scan result after a scan, it won't remove the virus but you can manually remove them. you can also configure your antivirus to automatically remove infected files/viruses if it founds one in your system.
Scanning just identifies viruses;-%26#123; then give you options.
Usually you can remove or isolate them.
i use avg free, it scans the computer every days for viruses
got 7 this year and they are under quarantine.
it just tells you, however there are virus systems that remove them too. But a scan just scans.
Depends on the settings of the anti virus software.
Bets thing to do is read the help.
Most will scan only scan and delete, scan and quarantine etc.
It just depends on the software.
