Why are viruses like the common cold are considered "more successful" than viruses like Ebola?virus protection

Viruses like the common cold are considered more successful because they have been able to produce mutant stands that are resistant to the antibiotics that used to be able to kill them. This enabling them to reproduce and live on through the generations. Remember this, being successful means one thing in nature; living long enough to reproduce.

Why are viruses like the common cold are considered "more successful" than viruses like Ebola?agv

because ebola kills it's victims relatively quickly. once the source is identified, it's relatively easy to isolate the victims, and stop the spread.

colds on the other hand are more of a nuisance, and are tolerated by the population. relatively little effort is expended to stop the spread.

however, when i looked, i didn't bargain to do all of your homework. :-(
the common cold is more successful because it has yet to be cured, ebola can be cured, plus it is too deadly. any virus (or bacteria or whatever) that kills its host isn't successful because then it dies with the host.
