Can viruses "attack" your heart?

I have MVP mitral valve prolapse... it seems when I get a cold/virus, my heart seems to act up and I get some dull pain (from the MVP). Could the virus have anything to do with this?

Yes. It can cause inflammation around the heart called myocarditis. Please see your doctor right away.

your body is fighting the infection so it is working harder that is the discomfort. However virus can attack the heart. I had a friend die from a tooth infection that entered the blood stream and attacked his heart
Check with your cardiologist
I know that bacteria can injure/damage the heart so I presume

that some viruses can also...
i could
