If you download an mp3 from anybody, and it's ONLY file suffix is ".mp3", then it will not ever be a virus. If you download a file that says "Kanye.mp3.exe" then you've got a problem. For further protection, don't ever double click the file, just open it with music player software like Winamp.

While there are viruses and trojans and spyware files out there, their threat is exaggerated by the media, by your know-it-all brother-in-law who thinks he knows about computers, and by companies that sell anti-virus software like Norton and McAffee.
if you want to be legal and buy cheap songs then I suggest downloading iTunes. Almost all their songs are 99 cents and if they're not protected they're only 30 cents higher :)
At download.com you can't get many things... to download all music you want without the risk of getting your pc contaminated by a virus is paying for it, if you don't wanna do it unfortunatelly you have to take this risk :(. Not if you download it from www.download.com it is MORE secure than limewire it has built in security setup.
