but i don't want to do it unless it removes all the spyware and viruses i have.

and i have my Windows XP home edition cd so i can put that on afterwards. so please if you know can you help me out.

Yes, a clean install of the O/S will get rid of spyware. Be sure to run a antivirus program before reloading any data on the new O/S.

it should if you reformat the hard drive, but be advised any files or programs that you have put on your computer will also disappear.

get and use A-squared and ccleaner

it will get the crappy junk out of your registry and off your hard drive that might be all you really need

what you want to do is drastic, you can still do it if need be after you remove the junk

I would try various free websites to remove the viruses and spy ware like http://www.ccleaner.com/ , http://www.lavasoftusa.com/ and http://free.grisoft.com/ before re-installing your OS (operating system). Though, if you feel certain that you want to re-install please feel free to do so.

The method that http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?... gave wont 100% get rid of all viruses and spyware. If you wish to do a proper computer full restore you need a coppy of all your drivers in a cd and a copy of you operating system.

you may loose other extra partions which came with your originall pc but if you wish to get rid of all viruses you need a full repartioning of your pc.
